One of the most important aspects of hiring a personal trainer is that your training is unique. As your coach, I will ask you about your goals, lifestyle, concerns, likes, and dislikes. I will listen carefully to your responses and be present for you during our sessions to focus, support, and motivate you mentally.
In the context of our training process, mindfulness will involve becoming aware of and paying close attention to the all-important mind-body connection. We'll discuss your attitude about fitness and determine if it's supportive of your goals. We'll discover what motivates and focuses you during a workout. Let's talk about those conversations going on in your head. Are they helping you or hindering you? Do you have some quiet time set aside each day to check in with yourself mentally? Are you sleeping well?
My first bachelor's degree was in psychology, and while that doesn't qualify me to be a psychotherapist, I've always been motivated to understand people and help them live better lives. "The body follows the mind" is a statement I believe strongly. If you're reading this, your fitness journey has already started in your mind because you're taking action in seeking a personal trainer. Your mind is always ahead of you; all we have to do is consistently point it in the right direction to reach our goals.
